Honesty Puppet Play                © Jenny Jenkins 2015    https://sites.google.com/site/valueslessons

Each puppet play on this website uses the same 3 puppets.
Use 'Muppet' TM type puppets with mouths you can open from inside, 1 larger headed mother, and 2 boys, one good and one naughty. Rename them, perhaps for their colour.
Or make Sock Puppets See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-mfUBQE3_s or Paper-bag Puppets -See: https://youtu.be/R-NmTMum-6I
For a simple Puppet theatre drape a piece of fabric or a sheet over a tight piece of string between 2 chairs or in an open doorway, or duck down behind a long sofa or couch.

(Blue, Yellow and Mum pop up.)

Mum  Happy birthday, Yellow. I’ll make you boys a special breakfast.

Yellow   Thanks Mum. (Mum goes)

Blue  I wish it was my birthday.

Yellow  Yours was only last month.

Blue  Your presents are better.

Yellow  Didn’t you like the watch I gave you?

Blue  I forgot about that.

Yellow  And the bike Mum gave you.

Blue  Oh, yeah. I still like your presents better.

Yellow  Which ones?

Blue  The chocolates.

Yellow    Would you like one?

Blue    I thought you’d never ask. (both go)

Narrator  (Perhaps Yellow in a lower voice) Later.

Mum  Breakfast is almost ready. Time to get dressed.

Blue  Yellow is in the shower.

Mum  Then why were you in his room?

Blue   Just looking at his presents.

Mum  What’s the brown stuff on your hands, Blue?

Blue  Umm…I’ve just been to the toilet…and..

Mum  Blue! Why didn’t you wash your hands after?

Blue  Because Yellow is in the bathroom.

Mum  Use the tap in the laundry!

Blue  I never thought of that.

(Mum goes)

Blue  Phew! That was close. (goes)

(Yellow pops up)

Yellow   Blue. Have you touched my chocolates? Five are gone.

Blue  Why are you blaming me? You always blame me.

Yellow  I wonder why?

Blue   I saw the cat come out of your room. She was licking her whiskers.

Yellow  Yeah, right.

Blue  True!

Yellow  Own up. Blue, or I’ll have to tell Mum.

Blue   Tattle tale.

Mum  Who’s a tattle tale?

Blue   Nobody.

Mum  What did you do, Blue?

Blue  Nothing.

Yellow  Five of my chocolates are missing.

Blue  The cat ate them.

Mum  That’s funny. The cat’s been asleep on the end of my bed all morning.

Yellow  Own up, Blue.

Blue  Maybe the neighbour’s cat came and ate them?

Yellow  It got run over last month.

Mum  Blue, what was on your hands when you came out of Yellow’s room?

Blue  When?

Mum  When Yellow was in the shower and you were looking at his presents.

Blue  Umm, poo?

Yellow  Blue! You’re in the poo! I gave you two of my chocolates and then you stole five more!

Mum  Well, Blue?

Blue  I didn’t mean to. The more I looked at them, the closer they got to my mouth.

Yellow  And?

Mum  The truth now, Blue.

Blue  So I opened my mouth and they jumped in. I couldn't stop them! It's not my fault. I think they liked me.

Yellow  Oh, boy.

Mum  Oh, Blue. That was your last chance and you blew it.

Blue  Uh oh!

Mum  Yellow, there’s two bacon and egg breakfasts on the table. Would you like them both?

Yellow  Yes please. Yum!

Blue  But what about meeee?

Mum   You’ve eaten already. But don’t worry, son. We’ll save you the dishes. And you can give your pocket money to Yellow next week, to buy some more chocolates.

Blue  Bacon and eggs, ohhh, bacon and eggs… my faaaavourite. Stupid, lazy cat! (All disappear)
